With the safe arrival of ‘Charlie Brown’ Clarke we have really felt blessed. Her safe arrival was not something that we took granted, not by any measure. We have lavished the last three months as we have watched her emerge from her fourth trimester into this amazingly engaged like person loves playing with her hands, her feet, her toys and, for some odd reason, starring in wonder at air conditioning ducts.
In preparing for Charlie’s arrival, we took stock of what we needed and started keeping an eye out early. We were so fortunate in what we were able to source at little or no cost. Some items we actively sought out and others, thanks to friends and family, simply landed in our lap. It really was a process of blessing after blessing.
As the weeks changed from being a gestational count to being a count down to the guestimate due date, we did start having to buy a few things. A breast pump, some modern cloth nappies, and accessories associated with the use of each but really that is about all. After the fact with Charlie’s surprise arrival we did do a mercy dash to pick up some ‘0000’ clothing for her and the great expense of $10.00 from a Mum, who experienced a similar surprise a few months earlier. Perfect really!
Now that she’s here and we have sorted through all we have been given we are truly able to say that we have been blessed beyond measure. We have an excess of many things that have come to our home in recent months and, now that sleep is less broken, I have had the chance to sort through it all and work out what we can gift on to others.
I have decided that for these items, that I shall give them away using the group ‘Guardian Gifters South of Adelaide‘. I have not listed with this group before but do know some of the amazing admins and trust they run a top notch little group there. Of course, there are plenty of other groups local to us that we could use. We have also listed those South Australian ‘give away’ groups that we are aware of already on our site, both local and further afield.
It really is wonderful to be part of such a generous community and it is even better being able to be a part of blessing others too through it. It is important to me never to forget that generosity begets generosity. That to foster the community we want around us, we need to be the community that we want around us.
